Beer has been brewed in Pilsen almost since the foundation of the town. The production of the renowned Pilsen lager made Pilsen soon the world metropolis of beer – and to prevent mistaking with other brands, in 1898 the trade mark Pilsner Urquell originated, the symbol of quality. In August, 2005 opened in Pilsen was a bar of new generation with world-unique system of self-service beer taps on each table. The visitors may so tap themselves the non-pasteurized tank beer Pilsner Urquell at their table.

During the day the bar works like a café with common offer of meals, however, every evening it belongs to the lovers of the beer of Pilsen. They may have themselves be captivated by the atmosphere and social events, play table football, watch a TV transmission or film on large-area projection or just enjoy themselves with friends. Pilsner Unique Bar is preparing a number of other surprises for its visitors, including beer competitions, regular live concerts in the style jazz-rock or exhibitions of photographs and graphic and plastic art.
