City Hall

City Hall

This Renaissance three-storey town hall is the best witness of the Pilsen prosperity in the early modern times. This jewel, considered to the most beautiful city halls in Bohemia, was built by the Italian architect Giovanni de Statia in the years 1554-1559.

Houses Decorated with Sgraffiti

Pilsen can boast a rich "collection" of houses decorated with sgraffiti, the themes of which are mostly inspired by the national history. The decorations were mostly made at the base of sketches by M. Ales.

The church belongs to the oldest buildings in Bohemia. It was built for the Benedictine monks after the return of the Prague bishop St. Vojtech from Rome.

The building of the "Great Theatre" was finished in 1902. This representative building was built in Neo-Renaissance style with Art Nouveau elements according to the plans of an important Czech architect A. Balsanek.

The PUB – Pilsner Unique Bar

In August, 2005 opened in Pilsen was a bar of new generation with world-unique system of self-service beer taps on each table. The visitors may so tap themselves the non-pasteurized tank beer Pilsner Urquell at their table.
